Patriots Equal Best Victory Run Since Tom Brady Era with Win Over Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

Rookie Henderson has tallied five scores this season

New England matched their longest winning run from the Brady period as they defeated AFC East opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the New England squad claimed an eighth straight win for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Maye accumulated 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 out of 34 attempts

The win extends the Patriots advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the New York at the foot after dropping to a 2-8 mark

The visitors had gone in front at Foxborough with quarterback Justin Fields rushing for a five-yard TD to cap the New York's opening drive

But the Patriots responded in the second period as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone halfway into the third period to make it 21-7

"It was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He desires to be outstanding."

Fields threw to John Metchie late in the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the victory
