Reports indicate that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
An Important Reunion for Fans
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. Industry whispers indicate their cameos will take the form of a future-set scene, as the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This represents the sixth installment in the global Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
The Plot and New Cast
The film's story are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.

- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
